Living in Somalia is both dangerous and toxic for a multitude of reasons. Terrorism is very prominent in Somalis everyday life. Violence out in the open is very common, with extremist groups and the Somalia military constantly being at battle. Additionally, because of the famine, ⅓ of children under the age of 5 are underweight, and only 29% of citizens have access to clean drinking water. Given these two facts, it is not surprising that the life expectancy is down to just 51 years. There is a high risk of catching infectious diseases, such as rabies and hepatitis. Most people are not educated, and the literacy rate for the country is a shockingly low 37%. Clearly, there are hardly any positives to the everyday life of people living in Somalia. People all over the country are hungry, thirsty and scared.
